TRAINING WEEK
From 9th till 11th of July DOREA Team have travelled to the town of Ponte the Lima, the oldest town in Portugal with around 3000 inhabitants, to participate in joint staff training and transnational project meeting as a part of Erasmus+ KA2 “Raising Equality And Cultural Tolerance (REaCT)” project.
During the joint staff training, teachers and trainers from Cyprus, Poland, Portugal, Italy and Greece got introduced to the Advocacy, 6 thinking hats, Inquiry and RADAR methods and discussed how these methods could be used in lessons for adults to foster cultural awarenes, tolerance and acceptance of immigrants and refugees – their culture, different religions, customs and etc.
While teachers and trainers where discussing the methods, the project management team discussed the ongoing and upcoming project activities, the quality and project dissemination plans.
All participants had also a chance to visit Geração Tecla Cultural Center in Braga. The center/project aims to work more effectively on the social inclusion of the most vulnerable children and young people from Roma community living in the social district of Santa Tecla. The aim of this center is to increase school and vocational qualifications as well as to develop the skills and competences of children and young people covered by the project in order to increase the chances of social and professional inclusion and equal opportunities. REACT PROJECT
This project aims to influence adult European citizens and encourage them to take action in favour of a more tolerant Europe, respectful of human rights and obligations, which entails a refugee population exceeding our borders. To reach the project objectives partners’ institutions will search for innovative teaching methods that will be tested in this specific context. Those methods will be gathered in the training Pack available on-line, ready to implement and use by adult training centres across Europe.
