PROJECT “DEVELOPMENT OF SMART AND COORDINATED EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT IN THE KAUNAS DISTRICT” No. 10-056-K-0028

On 14 February 2025, the Administration of Kaunas District Municipality signed an implementation agreement for the project Development of Smart and Coordinated Educational Support in Kaunas District (hereinafter – the project) with the Public Institution Central Project Management Agency regarding the project’s funding from European Union funds, national co-financing and the municipality’s own contribution. The total value of the Project is €981,091.42, of which €792,231.32 comes from EU funds, €139,805.52 from national co-financing, and €49,054.58 from the municipality’s own contribution.

The project partners are Pakaunė Primary Health Care Centre, Public Institution “Darnūs Namai”, Užliedžiai School–Multifunctional Centre in Kaunas District, DOREA Educational Institute (Republic of Cyprus), Kaunas District Pedagogical Psychological Service, Domeikava Gymnasium in Kaunas District, and the Kaunas District Social Services Centre, a municipal budgetary institution.

The project is financed within the framework of the 2021–2030 Development Programme of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania, under the funding scheme “Implement Inclusive Education” (No. 12-003-03-02-01), call “Ensuring Educational Support and Coordinated Service Provision” (No. 10-056-K).

Project target group: pre-school children, pupils with special educational needs who require assistance in the learning process, their parents, guardians or carers, teachers, and educational support specialists.

Project objective: to increase the availability and accessibility of coordinated educational support, social and health care services for pre-school and pre-primary children and their parents, as well as for pupils in general education schools and their families.

In Kaunas District Municipality, the accessibility of coordinated educational, social, and health care services remains insufficient. Individualised services are not provided, and in-depth studies aimed at improving accessibility and adaptability are lacking. To address these challenges, the Project seeks to implement a model that enables services to be provided on a larger scale and across diverse areas – education, social care, health, and culture.

The Project partners, as specialists in their respective fields, will contribute to expanding the range of services and encouraging greater involvement of parents, educators, and the wider community. The Project also plans to introduce innovative methods such as equine therapy, outdoor therapy, and rapid testing, combined with traditional services provided in educational institutions, pedagogical psychological services, social care, or healthcare facilities.

The Project foresees the purchase of an electric vehicle, IT tools, and other modern equipment to support the work of educational support specialists. Overall, this initiative will make a significant contribution to the development of inclusive education in Kaunas District, ensuring high-quality and accessible support for pupils, their families, and educational support professionals.

Project implementation period: February 2025 – February 2028.
