Empowering Teamwork and Self-Organization: BE YOU Training

From September 2 to 6, 2024, the picturesque city of Krakow, Poland, hosted the second learning activity of the BE YOU Erasmus+ KA2 project. This training focused on strengthening teamwork, and self-organization, and introducing EduLARPs—an innovative methodology using educational live-action role-playing games. The aim was to provide youth workers with practical tools to empower young people not only with knowledge and skills but also with attitudes essential for personal and professional growth.

A Transformative Experience

Participants explored key themes from the BE YOU Guide, such as:

  • The importance of teamwork and self-organization in the 21st century.
  • Practical ways to improve teamwork competencies and navigate group dynamics.
  • Understanding group development using models like Tuckman’s Stages, Lencioni Model, GRPI, and DISC.
  • Conflict resolution and addressing challenges like mobbing and bullying in teams.

The use of EduLARPs brought a unique, interactive approach to learning. Participants playtested specially designed scenarios to experience firsthand how these role-playing activities can teach teamwork, leadership, and conflict management in engaging and impactful ways.

Outcomes and Next Steps

This training enriched youth workers with innovative methods to support Generation Z in becoming more effective team players and confident individuals. The combination of theory, practical activities, and experiential learning ensured participants left with tools ready for real-world application.

With the BE YOU Training Tool nearing completion, this resource will soon be available to help young people enhance their communication skills, improve self-organization, work effectively in teams, and boost their confidence.
