RES PUBLICA: Scenario-based learning for enhanced societal resilience among young people
Objectives
RES PUBLICA is latin for “the public affair”; the root of the word “republic.” RES PUBLICA will strengthen societal resilience among young Europeans by inviting them to imagine and test how communities hold together when confronted with disinformation, digital manipulation and social division.
We aim to develop a new youth work methodology supporting futures literacy, democratic participation and societal resilience through scenario-based learning, benchmarked to the UN Global Risks Report.
Activities
Partners will use predicted scenario outcomes from the UN Global Risks Report, as a starting point for scenario-based learning and for Scenario-based Youth Forums, delivered as collaborative workshops. These reals-world scenarios will be used to build key problem-solving and collaboration skills in young people, so that even when emerging risks arise in the future, they will have the skills necessary to respond to them. In this way, we will build their futures literacy and their resilience.
Impact
RES PUBLICA results will include:
1. Disinformation and Societal Resilience training curriculum for youth workers.
2. Youth Scenario Book, developed through co-creation sessions with young people and youth workers.
3. Youth Civic Action Toolkit.
4. Youth Resilience Playbook and an Online Hub.
These results are expected to strengthen youth worker capacity, support youth-led civic participation and increase young people’s preparedness to engage constructively with societal uncertainty.
